Religion and the Gay Child
Guests: Jesse Davis and son, Kevin

Jessie Davis prayed that her children would be anything but homosexual. As Catholics, she knew it meant a life of celibacy for them. So when her son Kevin came out of the closet, Jessie panicked. She got him therapy that she hoped would “cure him,” sought help from her priest, and made novenas so he’d change to heterosexuality. But as she sat in her pew at mass one day, she realized that “God created my son the way he is.” And because he was born gay, he couldn’t be changed. Now she’s crusading to correct the inaccuracies of ancient religious thinking (in her church and others) and to make the world a place where Gays can worship without rejection. Meet Jessie, and her son Kevin.
